Fair Weather Ahead!

August already!  Wore a jacket to the Chamber office this morning--Fall is moving upon us in Yooper Land very fast!  Which means, of course, that the time is here for the Gogebic County Fair.  Held at the fairgrounds just off U.S. 2 in Ironwood, MI, the Fair will start next week on Thursday, August 9 and run until Sunday, August 12.  You can see the full fair schedule here:  Lots of new events and activities this year as well as the old favorites that one expects and savors at this time of year:  4-H animal showing, the best vegetables up for ribbons, lots of music in the grandstand and the small stage, the wonderful smells from the Bar-B-Que cooking contest, and much more.   Weather forecast (as of today!) looks great!   AND--don't foget to stop in the Exposition Building and visit the Gogebic Chambers of Commerce booth.  Ironwood, Wakefield, Lake Gogebic, and Watersmeet will have maps, area guides, individual business brochures, and loads of information about our great Gogebic County.  You can also contribute to the Hiawatha statue restoration fund at the booth as well--restoration is being schedule for next June 19th, and we need to raise the final $10K now!   Stop in and say hi--I will be at the booth every day except Friday when other Chamber members will greet you upon your arrival.  Make your plans now, for next week there is definately "Fair Weather Ahead"!
