Ironwood Carnegie Library
Ironwood's Carnegie Library is the oldest continuously operating Carnegie Library in Michigan. Built in 1901, its links run deep in the Ironwood Community as Andrew Carnegie, the great Iron & Steel magnate who provided the funds for the construction of the library, owned the Norrie and Pabst Iron Mines in Ironwood. Today, the library serves as a multigenerational gathering place that instills a passion for reading and a curiousty for knowledge. Of special note the children and young adult collections, which fill almost the entirety of the basement level, with rooms for books, crafts, and reading space.
