Jack Frost Festival 2017
Season’s Greetings from the Jack Frost Festival Committee:
Planning is now underway for the 23nd Annual Jack Frost Festival of Lights Parade! The date for the parade is Saturday, December 2, 2017. The parade will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Ironwood along Aurora Street, starting at the Ironwood Carnegie Library corner. Parade participants must be at their line-up position by 5:00 p.m. All parade staging areas will have section directors to assist you. You’ll be able to identify them by their safety vests.
Please get you registration forms in early. This year's parade will not be televised, so line-up should go very smoothly. Registrations need to be submitted to the Ironwood Chamber of Commerce office no later than Friday, November 24. Please mail your form to Ironwood Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 45, Ironwood, MI 49938 or you can email to email@example.com Unregistered units will not be allowed to participate in the parade. Entries will be judged on the creative ways in which this year’s theme is portrayed through float/unit design and decoration. Not to confuse kids, no other “Santa” entries are allowed. Please keep in mind that this is a night-time parade: all entries must have lights. The Festival Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject any parade unit(s).
The 2017 parade Grand Marshal is the Gogebic Range Robotics Team, and our parade theme is "A Mechanical Christmas." Many of us have experienced the delight of an electric train running underneath the Christmas tree, the bell-like sounds of a music box playing carols, or even the famous revolving aluminim Christmas tree! We also remember the toy lable that said "batteries not included". This year's theme celebrates not only the constructive creativity displayed by the Gogebic Range Robotics Team, but also the many, many types of mechanical Christmas toys and decorations that showcase a seasonal inventive spirit!
